Deputy Commissioner JoEllen Hanrahan
JoEllen Hanrahan was appointed Deputy Commissioner of the Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development (DCCED) in November 2013. Ms. Hanrahan is responsible for oversight of the department’s regulatory and consumer protection entities: Banking and Securities; Insurance; Corporations, Business and Professional Licensing; the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board; and the Regulatory Commission of Alaska.
Ms. Hanrahan previously served as the department’s administrative services director, and has also worked at the Office of Management and Budget, the Department of Labor, and the Department of Environmental Conservation.
With a long history of public service, Ms. Hanrahan has extensive administrative, budget, and legislative experience as well as in-depth knowledge of State systems and priorities.
An Alaska resident since 1980, Ms. Hanrahan was born in Elmira, New York, holds a degree from Ithaca College, and currently lives and works in Juneau.
