In observance of September 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance, Jane Ramos and Commissioner Kathryn Abbott of Serve Alaska joined SAGA members in their service to the 9/11 Day event at Bean’s Café in Anchorage.
Volunteers assisted in the inventory, cleaning, meal preparation, lunch service, and preparation of soup mixes for the fundraisers. Volunteers were divided up into smaller groups to complete different tasks. It was a full day event from 9am-5pm.
June 1, 2013 SAGA held the National Trails Day events in Indian and Juneau. Their Indian partners included Chugach State Park, REI, and Alaska Trails (non-profit trails advocacy group) with a total group of approximately 50 people. SAGA’s Juneau partners were the City and Borough of Juneau and Trails Mix (non-profit trail org.) with approximately 45 people. This is SAGA’s first National Trails Day events.
The attached photo is from our Juneau event; those in hard hats are SAGA folks.
Currently, the Juneau trail (Outer Point Trail on North Douglas) that SAGA worked on is in the process of being made wheelchair accessible.
