The primary objective of the Library Construction and Major Expansion Program is to provide communities with the financial assistance needed to help construct a public library or make a major expansion and associated renovations to an existing public library.
Subject to appropriation, the program provides not more than 50 percent of the total proposed grant project costs to an eligible applicant.
Eligible Applicants are municipalities, Native Village Councils, or an incorporated non-profit entity in the unorganized borough.
The deadline for submittals under the FY13 program was 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 8th, 2011. The Department received seven applications under this solicitation. The applications were reviewed and listed in rank order for submission to the Governor's office. That list is viewable at the link below.
Appropriations for specific projects will be made in the FY 2013 capital budget. Funding will be available effective July 1, 2012.
