|The utility revenue and expense budget includes the previous three years' actual data and the adopted calendar year for 2009. The budget for water and sewer is combined. For calendar year 2009, the city anticipates receiving $294,500 in revenues and plans to expend $256,197. The revenue category separates water and sewer revenues and internal water revenues (city facilities). Reserve funds are maintained in the general fund and not recorded in the utility budget.
The expense line items are very well detailed, up to and including depreciation. Monthly financial reports include the adopted budget for comparison to amounts received and expended.
The city has two sources for fuel supplies which are available via barge service all year. The city purchases and resells from North Pacific Fuel. Tanadgusix Corporation, the local village ANCSA village corporation, purchases and resells fuel from Delta Western. The city maintains tanks with 80,000 gallon capacity for gasoline and 1.3 million gallon capacity for diesel fuel. The utility purchases fuel from the city tanks and is billed monthly.
The Utility Manager provides a monthly report to the City Manager. If there are issues the city council needs to be aware of, the City Manager includes them in her report to the council.
